President Donald Trump stated today that the United States has secured a pledge from Yemen's Houthi rebels to halt their attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea, following what he described as a period of intense U.S. military action.

Speaking to reporters, Trump claimed "a very good outcome" with the Houthis, adding that the group had made a commitment to cease hostilities. "They gave us their word that they wouldn't be shooting ships anymore. We honor that," he said, emphasizing the U.S. administration's trust in the group's promises.

Trump acknowledged the significant disruption caused by the Houthi attacks, which have involved missile and drone strikes against vessels traversing the vital Red Sea trade route. He also highlighted the severity of the U.S. military response. "We hit them very hard. They had a great capacity to withstand punishment. They took tremendous punishment," he stated.

Despite the recent escalation, Trump expressed optimism that the attacks would cease. "I believe that hopefully that's over with and they'll leave the ships alone," he said.
