An unprecedented women's demonstration unfolded in Aden, the interim capital, on Saturday, as women took to the streets to demand an end to rapidly deteriorating living, service, and educational conditions.

Organized by civil society under the banner "Women's Revolution," the large protest in Khor Maksar saw women resolutely proceed despite initial opposition, notably refusing political or separatist symbols.
The demonstrators strongly condemned both the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council (STC) for the sharp decline in essential services, particularly the electricity crisis, and the disruption of children's education. They labeled the hardships "systematic torture," citing currency collapse and soaring prices alongside power outages.
Slogans like "No Saudi, no Dollar, we are people, not merchants" and placards demanding basic necessities conveyed public anger. Symbolic displays of old appliances highlighted the impact of prolonged power cuts during intense heat.
Protesters demanded immediate solutions to Aden's unprecedented crisis, decrying governmental inaction. They vowed to continue protesting for improved services, especially electricity, asserting they would not accept their city being a victim of state absence and conflict.
Activist Dalida al-Yafei stated their demands focused on essential services and currency stabilization, warning of further escalation if unmet. Speaking to "Baran Press," she said protests would target government facilities to press for "living justice."
Aden is grappling with severely declining services, with electricity outages up to 18 hours amid high temperatures, intensifying pressure on the government and the STC, which controls the city and southern regions.
