A civilian was shot and killed by Houthi gunmen at a checkpoint in the Khabb wa ash Sha'af district of Jawf Governorate, northeastern Yemen, on Thursday. This marks the second such incident since the beginning of May, a local source reported.
The victim, identified as Hilal Naji Al-Jamal, was killed by armed Houthi elements at the Al-Mahir checkpoint in the Al-Yatama area, the center of Khabb wa ash Sha'af district, according to the source who spoke to "Barran Press." The gunmen reportedly opened fire on Al-Jamal as he passed through the Houthi-controlled checkpoint, killing him instantly.
This incident follows another fatal shooting earlier this month, when Houthi elements at the Al-Shajara checkpoint in Al-Hazm district, the provincial capital, killed Abdulwali Yahya Sham'an. In that same incident, Ayman Saleh Al-Raimi and Mansour Monser Hajeb were also injured. The Houthi group is internationally designated as a terrorist organization.
