A critical lifeline connecting southern and northern Yemen has officially reopened, marking a significant development for war-weary citizens. Lieutenant Colonel Nasr Jaawal, commander of the Fifth Security Belt Sector in Al-Dhale Governorate, announced today the opening of the Al-Dhale-Sana'a road for 13 hours daily.
In a statement released by the Al-Dhale Combat Axis Media Center, Jaawal confirmed that the international road linking Aden, Al-Dhale, and Sana'a will be accessible to citizens and private vehicles daily, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
He added that schedules for the passage of large trucks and trailers would be announced later. Jaawal urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies to ensure their safety and maintain front-line security.
This reopening follows a decade of closure due to the ongoing conflict. Local sources reported on May 19 that procedures to reopen the vital road in Al-Dhale Governorate, leading towards Ibb, Dhamar, and Sana'a, had begun. The route had been shut since the Houthi group overran the capital Sana'a in September 2014.
Sources told "Bran Press" that security committees from both the internationally recognized Yemeni government's local authorities in Al-Dhale and the Iran-backed Houthi group initiated the opening procedures for the Al-Dhale-Dammt road earlier today.
According to sources, the sudden announcement by the Governor of Al-Dhale last Sunday regarding the road's opening sparked discontent among some provincial officials. However, it was widely welcomed by citizens, as reconnecting the route towards Dammt district will significantly alleviate the immense suffering and prolonged hardship faced by residents of numerous villages and communities in the region.
