Vice president of the Presidential Leadership Council and Marib Governor Major General Sultan Al-Aradah on Saturday updated Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi on persistent attempts by the Houthi group to infiltrate the province's internal front. The briefing follows recent Houthi setbacks at Marib's heavily fortified borders.
In a phone call, Al-Aradah detailed the local authority's security, service, and development efforts, including humanitarian aid for millions displaced by Houthi oppression. Yemen's official news agency, SABA, reported Al-Aradah emphasized the readiness of Marib forces to deter Houthi attempts to breach defenses.
Al-Alimi praised Maribi people and tribes for their "great national role" in defending the Republic, expressing confidence in their ability to "foil opportunities for those who plot against Ma'rib." He lauded the province's "service and urban renaissance" despite years of Houthi blockade, commending security forces for maintaining public order.
The briefing comes amid recent security incidents. On Wednesday, June 4, Marib's security committee reported that "outlaw elements" led by a Houthi-appointed individual, Abdullah bin Saeed bin Jalal, carried out sabotage, including cutting the vital Ma'rib-Hadramout road in Al-Wadi district.
The committee stated these elements attacked security checkpoints with heavy weapons, attempting to establish positions for "killing, banditry, and destabilizing security." They also reopened fire on security units, injuring several soldiers.
Ma'rib's security apparatus affirmed it will pursue all criminal elements and deal "forcefully and decisively" with anyone aiding subversive groups linked to the Houthi organization.
