Marib's Security Committee today issued a forceful declaration, promising a robust crackdown on outlaws responsible for road banditry and looting along the crucial international highway linking Marib and Hadramout. The committee pledged to relentlessly pursue and prosecute all perpetrators, emphasizing that severe legal measures await those who disrupt public safety.
In a statement obtained by Bran Press, the committee underscored its unwavering commitment to protecting public and private interests. It warned against any actions that could diminish Marib's esteemed position or tarnish the reputation of its respected tribes, leaders, and citizens. Such criminal acts, the committee asserted, directly undermine the significant sacrifices and patriotic resolve of the governorate's populace.
Security agencies, the statement confirmed, are diligently tracking a recent surge in highway ambushes and theft targeting travelers. These incidents include a recent armed assault on a transport truck, which tragically resulted in the driver's death and injuries to his companion. Another attack saw the killing of a separate truck driver and assaults on security personnel escorting fuel tankers.
The committee reaffirmed that Marib's security forces and armed services remain steadfast in their constitutional and legal obligations. Their mandate, it stated, includes safeguarding vital installations, protecting public welfare, ensuring the safety of citizens, and securing travelers on key routes.
Furthermore, the committee declared its intent to respond with unyielding force to any acts of sabotage or attempts to incite chaos. It vowed to decisively confront individuals who seek to destabilize security, disturb public order, or advance the agendas of the Houthi group, which is internationally recognized as a terrorist organization, or any other terrorist entities.
Finally, the committee appealed to anyone with grievances or demands to utilize official and legal avenues for resolution. It stressed that legitimate complaints do not justify lawlessness or aggression against the rights of others, cautioning that assaults on road security and citizens will inevitably lead to dire consequences for both the perpetrators and their enablers.
