Security authorities affiliated with the Iran-backed Houthi group announced today the arrest of a suspect in the horrific murder and dismemberment of a woman in Sana'a.
The interior ministry of the unrecognized Houthi government identified the alleged perpetrator as Ibrahim Shuraim, 44. He is accused of killing S.A.A., 25, according to the group's media.
Authorities stated that Shuraim allegedly lured the victim to his home, where he then raped, killed, and dismembered her body. He reportedly buried parts of her remains in multiple locations across Sana'a. Furthermore, he allegedly took her child, who was with her at the time, and left the infant at the entrance of a building in the northern part of the capital.
Victim's Husband Connected to Suspect
Local sources in Sana'a provided further details, indicating that Ibrahim Taher Shuraim had lured the victim and her one-year-old child to his residence in Old Sana'a. The sources corroborated the account of the rape and dismemberment, which they believe was an attempt to conceal the crime.
According to these sources, the suspect, Ibrahim Shuraim, was previously incarcerated in the central prison alongside the victim's husband, who remains in custody. The victim's husband had reportedly asked Shuraim for money to assist his wife, a vulnerability that Shuraim allegedly exploited to orchestrate his heinous crime.
