Anthony Hayward, the military advisor to the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, visited Al-Dhale province on Wednesday to assess civilian safety measures along the recently reopened Mureis-Damet road. This route had been reopened in coordination with the Houthis.

According to a "Baran Press" correspondent, Hayward, accompanied by Brett Scott, the Envoy's office director, met with Major General Ali Muqbel Saleh, the governor of Al-Dhale, along with local security and military leaders. Their discussions focused on the authorities' efforts to open the Sana'a-Aden road, which traverses Al-Dhale province.

Governor Muqbel briefed the UN Envoy's military advisor on the totality of violations committed by the Houthis, an internationally blacklisted group, against civilians. He highlighted the group's continuous targeting of residential areas and farms with missiles and drones.
Authorities in Al-Dhale had previously responded by opening another route, the Marib-Al-Fakher-Ibb road towards Sana'a, but this initiative was rejected by the Houthis.

During the meeting, security and military leaders discussed their safety procedures for the Marib-Damet road, noting the continuous presence of security forces, including female police officers, to facilitate traffic and secure the route.
Following the meeting, the UN Envoy's military advisor, accompanied by the local authorities, visited the Marib area in Qatabah district. He inspected the road's safety measures, verified compliance with required conditions, and confirmed the absence of threats such as mines.
