Dozens of frustrated residents gathered today in front of the local authority building in Taiz, southwestern Yemen, to protest widespread corruption and the severe lack of basic services. The demonstration called for an end to the "failure and corruption" plaguing service institutions across the city and its districts.
Protesters, as reported by "Baran Press," demanded the restoration of essential public services, particularly water and electricity, along with improvements in education and healthcare.
"Baran Press" conducted interviews with several participants who stressed the "necessity of holding the corrupt accountable" in the governorate. They highlighted that their decision to take to the streets was a direct result of ongoing crises, including severe shortages of water and cooking gas.
Demonstrators spoke out against the corruption within local authority offices, accusing political parties of complicity in the mismanagement of the governorate. They urged these parties to act swiftly to rescue citizens from what they described as an "unbearable catastrophic situation."
