Marib, Yemen - A large artistic and literary event was held in Marib today to celebrate the 34th anniversary of Yemeni unification. The event was attended by a large number of officials, including the Deputy Minister of Defense, Major General Fahmi Al-Fatmi, as well as military leaders, security officials, and representatives of civil society organizations.

In his speech at the event, Major General Al-Fatmi said that Yemeni unity is "an extension of a history of struggle." He praised the sacrifices made by the Yemeni people in their struggle for unity and called for continued efforts to preserve it.

Earlier in the day, the Air Force and Air Defense College held a military parade in Marib to mark the anniversary. The parade was attended by civilian and military leaders.

Yemen is celebrating the 34th anniversary of the reunification of the country in 1990 amidst popular preparations to revive it in several Yemeni provinces, and an international movement to end the war and establish peace.

On May 22, 1990, the two parts of Yemen were united, after the success of the "September 26, 1962 Revolution" against the imamate regime in the north of the country, and the "October 14, 1963 Revolution" against British colonialism in the south. Yemeni unity was considered the culmination of the struggles of the Yemeni people against tyranny and colonialism, and the realization of their aspirations for life and stability after years of division.
