A responsible source in the province of Marib (northeastern Yemen) stated on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, that the local authorities in Marib will receive travelers coming from Sana'a and Al-Bayda to implement the initiative of Brigadier General Sultan Al-Arada by opening the roads in a few days, after completing their entry procedures.
The source mentioned in an interview with "Barran Press" that the local authorities in Marib welcome the travelers who have arrived from Sana'a and Al-Bayda to implement the "Al-Arada" initiative by opening the roads. The source also emphasized the commitment and steadfastness of the Marib authorities to the positions announced by the member of the Presidential Council, Brigadier General Sultan Al-Arada, in November last year.
Furthermore, the source added that the authorities expressed their surprise at the lack of communication from the travelers to coordinate the removal of any obstacles or difficulties, especially since the area of their crossing is a military zone. It was confirmed that the safety of the travelers, who have been waiting for approval from the Houthis to cross for about 10 days, is of utmost priority.
According to the source, the travelers' delegation includes "more than 40 vehicles seeking entry into the city without any prior coordination." For this reason, the local authority summoned several travelers present with the convoy, led by "Omar Mohammed Al-Daia," to coordinate the convoy's entry.
The source confirmed the arrival of several travelers with "Al-Daia" to the city of Marib to meet with the local authorities and make arrangements to ensure that the internationally designated Houthi group on terrorism lists does not exploit the convoy's presence.
Today, Tuesday, June 4, 2024, the travelers' delegation reached the Al-Jaubah directorate in the south of Marib province after six days of waiting for approval from the Houthi group to pass through their checkpoints in Qania.
This comes as the Houthi group allows the passage of travelers through its security checkpoints on the (Al-Bayda-Marib) road after about four months since the announcement of the initiative by the member of the Presidential Council, Brigadier General Sultan Al-Arada, to open all roads leading to and from Marib province "from one side" on February 22, under widespread popular pressure.
