A prominent leader of the Houthi group, designated as a terrorist organization by the international community, was killed by tribal fighters in Al-Jawf Governorate, northeastern Yemen, according to local sources.
Sources told "Barran Press" that the Houthi leader, identified as Hayel Hussein Saeed Al-Naqib, was killed by members of the Bani Nauf tribe in the Rajuza district, west of Al-Jawf, in the past few hours.
The sources reported that tribal members in Rajuza are mobilizing in preparation for any escalation by the Houthi group in retaliation for the killing of their leader. They anticipate an armed confrontation between the two sides in the coming hours.
Since the Houthi group's takeover of Al-Jawf Governorate in early 2020, they have attempted to impose their sectarian ideology and beliefs on the tribes through force, but have faced fierce resistance, particularly from the Bani Nauf tribe.
Over the past two years, numerous battles have erupted between Houthi fighters and tribal forces, resulting in casualties on both sides.
