The Giants Brigade and the Saba Axis forces have regained control of strategic positions between the districts of Harib and Al-Abdiyah in the southern part of Marib Governorate, hours after they fell to the Houthi rebels, a field source confirmed on Tuesday.

The source told "Barran Press" that the Giants Brigade and the Saba Axis forces successfully recaptured Mount "Arash" in the "Al-Jafra" district of Al-Abdiyah, following fierce clashes with the Houthi rebels, who had received reinforcements from Dhamar and Al-Bayda governorates.

The source added that following their expulsion from Mount Aras, the Houthis withdrew early Tuesday morning from the "Al-Qarn" and "Al-Dhra'a" positions, retreating to their previous strongholds since their expulsion from Al-Jafra in late January 2022 by the Southern Giants Brigade, supported by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition.

The source indicated that the Giants Brigade has established complete control over all positions they have held for the past two years, while the Houthi rebels have retreated to their previous positions in Mount "Radhma" and "Dhu'an," restoring calm to the area.

The clashes in Al-Jafra on Monday resulted in the deaths of two Giants Brigade fighters: "Abdulwahab Ahmed Muhammad Awad Ba'ali" and "Khalid Muhammad Al-Qamishi," and the injury of three others. Meanwhile, dozens of Houthi fighters were killed or injured.

On Monday, the internationally designated terrorist group, the Houthis, launched a surprise attack on Al-Jafra in Al-Abdiyah, south of Marib, seizing control of Mount Aras and the Al-Zera' and Al-Qarn positions.

The Giants Brigade, in a statement seen by "Barran Press," confirmed engaging in "fierce clashes" to repel the Houthi attack on Mount Aras in the Al-Jafra area of Al-Abdiyah, south of Marib.

The statement explained that the Houthis used artillery shells, drones, and medium-caliber weapons in the attack, but the Giants Brigade responded decisively.

According to the statement, the Southern Giants Brigade forced the Houthi fighters to retreat after inflicting heavy casualties, rendering their attempt to advance a complete failure.

This attack marks the largest and most violent assault launched by the Houthi rebels since late 2021, coinciding with active regional and international efforts to push for peace in Yemen.

The Al-Jafra district, inhabited by the Al-Ghanim tribe, is a sparsely populated area with no military presence. The Giants Brigade controls the mountains overlooking and surrounding Al-Jafra from the Harib district, while the Houthis control the mountains overlooking the district from the Al-Abdiyah district. The villages of Al-Jafra are devoid of military presence from both sides.

The Giants Brigade, backed by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition, successfully liberated Al-Jafra in Al-Abdiyah on January 26, 2022, following the completion of the liberation of the Harib districts south of Marib and Ain west of Shabwa, after fierce battles against the Houthi rebels.
