A civilian sustained severe injuries after detonating a landmine, a remnant of the Houthi militia, in Yemen's Al-Jawf governorate.
Local sources reported that the incident occurred in the "Al-Hadha" area, southwest of Al-Maslub district, when Ali Faraj Al-Noufi stepped on the explosive while walking along the main road. The blast resulted in the amputation of some of his limbs, leaving him with critical injuries.
According to the Yemeni Ministry of Defense website, "September Net," the landmine was planted by the Houthi militia, which is designated as a terrorist group by several countries.
United Nations reports have documented the planting of nearly two million landmines by the Houthis in various areas under their control, leading to the deaths and injuries of over 20,000 civilians, primarily women and children. rights reports accuse the Houthis of transforming Yemen into "the largest landmine field ever," after planting over two million landmines.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly urged the Houthi militia to provide maps of the landmines they have planted to organizations working in demining efforts. However, the group has consistently ignored these requests.
