Two Houthi fighters were killed and four others injured in armed clashes with Yemeni army forces west of the city of Taiz on Saturday, July 13, 2024, according to military sources.
The official Yemeni news agency Saba, citing military sources, reported that "armed elements of the Houthi group attempted to infiltrate army positions in Yasin Hill northwest of the city, leading to clashes with army personnel. Two Houthi fighters were killed and four others wounded, while the rest fled."
The official agency clarified that "the infiltration attempt coincided with shelling by Houthi drone aircraft and artillery fire on army positions in the Dhabab fronts west of the city."
The fronts in Taiz governorate have witnessed intermittent clashes between Houthi fighters, designated as a terrorist organization by several countries, and government forces, amidst military reinforcements and mobilizations by both sides.
These clashes come amid concerns of a renewed war, despite regional and international efforts led by the United Nations to secure a roadmap ending the nine-year conflict, which has caused the worst crisis in the country according to the UN.
