Two children have died from lightning strikes in the provinces of Sana'a and Amran, bringing the total number of fatalities caused by lightning strikes in Yemen to 19 in just one week.

Local sources confirmed to "Barran Press" that a lightning strike killed Yahya Ahmed Abdulkarim al-Sawady on Monday evening in the Al-Jabal district of Amran, located in northern Yemen.

Another lightning strike claimed the life of 16-year-old Riyad Tayser al-Muntaser in the village of Dhiban in Arhab district, north of Sana'a.

These deaths follow a series of lightning strikes that have ravaged Yemen since the middle of last week. Earlier reports had documented the deaths of 17 people, including women and children, and injuries to eight others as a result of lightning strikes across various provinces.

The recent surge in lightning-related deaths highlights the dangers posed by unpredictable weather patterns in Yemen, particularly during the monsoon season.
