The Justice and Democracy Party in Aden, southern Yemen, has accused security forces in the city, controlled by the Southern Transitional Council (STC), of detaining the party's chairman, Mohammed Omar Zain Al-Saqqaf.

In a statement seen by "Barran Press," the party alleged that Al-Saqqaf was lured to a security center and illegally detained. The party appealed to the Ministry of Interior and relevant authorities in Aden for his immediate release.

The party described the detention of its chairman as "illegal" and warned security and local authorities in Aden against harming him, holding them responsible for any harm that may befall him.

Mohammed Al-Saqqaf's family confirmed that he was detained at the "Kabota" police station on Thursday evening, July 18, 2024, after being summoned and lured to the station without knowing the reason for the summons and subsequent arrest.
