The Tangier Zoom Festival of Social Cinema has announced the selection of Yemeni filmmaker Racha Hashim as a jury member for its 11th edition, scheduled to take place from November 13th to 16th, 2024, in the Moroccan city of Tangier.

Hashim's selection as a jury member follows the festival's call for film submissions for its 11th edition.

Festival director Abdelghani Tahri stated that this edition will feature a tribute to actors Thrya Al-Alawai and Hassan Badida.

He further highlighted that the jury for this edition will be composed of Moroccan director Noufal Al-Barawi as president, Yemeni director Racha Hashim, Moroccan actress Badiaa Al-Sonhaji, Syrian actor and producer Firas Ibrahim, and Moroccan critic and researcher Sulaiman Al-Haqwi.

According to the festival director, aspiring filmmakers and film producers have a great opportunity to showcase their creations through this festival, which serves as a valuable platform.

The festival will feature a range of cinematic activities and roundtable discussions on various topics, including screenings of dramatic and documentary films, followed by discussions with directors and experts on the subject matter.

The Tangier Zoom Festival of Social Cinema is the first social festival for short films organized in Tangier by the Tangazoum Network Association. It features a competition for audio-visual productions, including documentaries and short films with social themes, created by young amateurs from Tangier and beyond.

The festival was first organized in 2012 and is primarily an annual educational and cultural event that allows young people from neighborhoods and semi-urban associations to highlight their work and realities.
