The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning has issued a warning for heavy thunderstorms across most of Yemen in the coming 42 hours, with eight governorates expected to experience the most intense rainfall. The center has urged residents to exercise caution and avoid low-lying areas and potential flash flood zones.

In its daily bulletin, seen by Barran Press, the center stated that "heavy thunderstorms accompanied by hail and downdrafts are expected in parts of Saada, Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Dhamar, Rima, Ibb, Taiz, Al Dhale, Tihama Plain, and the western coast."

The bulletin also predicted "moderate to heavy thunderstorms in parts of Amran, Sana'a, Marib, Al Bayda, Lahj, Shabwa, Hadhramaut, Mahra, and the highlands of Abyan and Al Jawf during the afternoon and evening hours."

The center reported that its weather stations recorded significant rainfall in several governorates over the past 24 hours. Zabid district in Hodeidah governorate recorded the highest rainfall at 20.3 mm.

Dhamar governorate came in second with 18.5 mm, followed by Al Kaden in Hodeidah with 16.5 mm, Taiz with 15.5 mm, Al Dhale with 11.3 mm, Ba'dan in Ibb with 9.6 mm, and Al Huban in Taiz with 7.2 mm.

The center stated that "moderate to heavy thunderstorms fell outside the range of weather stations in parts of the mountainous highlands, inland plateaus, and coastal plains."

The center reiterated its warning to citizens in areas expected to receive rainfall to avoid low-lying areas, potential flash flood zones, thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail.

The center also warned drivers about reduced visibility due to rain, fog, or mist, and potential rockfalls on mountain roads. It urged relevant authorities to take necessary measures to protect lives and property and to monitor the center's bulletins and reports.
