The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning issued a warning on Monday, August 5th, 2024, predicting heavy to very heavy thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and hail in approximately 14 Yemeni governorates and regions.

The center's daily bulletin, reviewed by "Bran Press," indicated that the rainfall will affect the governorates of "Saada, Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, Amran, Sana'a, Remah, Dhamar, Ibb, Taiz, Al-Dhale'e, northern Lahj, Al-Bayda, western coasts, and the plains and highlands of Tihama."

The bulletin further stated that parts of the governorates of "Mahra, Hadramawt, Shabwa, Marib, Al-Jawf, and the coastal areas of Abyan, Aden, and Lahj" will experience varying degrees of rainfall accompanied by thunder.

In response, the National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning urged citizens in areas expected to receive rainfall to avoid valleys and flood channels during and after the rainfall.

The bulletin also warned of thunderstorms accompanied by occasional hail, rock and mudslides in mountainous slopes and mud-brick houses.

The center stated that these areas will experience reduced visibility due to rainfall and dense low-lying clouds on mountain roads. Strong downdrafts will also cause dust and sandstorms in coastal and desert areas.

The center appealed to relevant government agencies to "take necessary measures and precautions to protect lives and property and to monitor its bulletins and reports."

The bulletin highlighted the rainfall amounts recorded in the past 24 hours at some weather stations, including 43.2 millimeters in Al-Mahwit, 35.4 millimeters in Hajjah, and 23.1 millimeters in Al-Zuhra, Hodeidah.

The bulletin further noted that weather stations recorded 21 millimeters in Amran, 16.6 millimeters in the Al-Sada area of Ibb, 3.6 millimeters in Sana'a, and 3.2 millimeters in Ataq.

According to the center, varying degrees of thunderstorms occurred within and outside the range of weather stations in areas of the western highlands, inland plateaus, and Tihama plain.
