Faraj Al-Bahsani, a member of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, arrived in Washington D.C. on Saturday for medical treatment, according to Yemen's official news agency Saba.

The agency reported that Al-Bahsani is scheduled to undergo routine medical examinations at hospitals in Washington.

Al-Bahsani's recent absence from both Presidential Leadership Council meetings and the recent visit of the Council's president to Hadhramaut province, his former governorship and a region he considers his homeland and strategic depth, had been noticeable.

His last publicly known activity was attending the speech and cultural event marking the 8th anniversary of the liberation of the Hadhramaut coast from Al-Qaeda on April 30th.

Al-Bahsani, a politician and military leader, was born in Ghayel Bawazeer, Hadhramaut province. He served as commander of the Second Military Region and governor of Hadhramaut before being appointed to the Presidential Leadership Council.

He later joined the Southern Transitional Council, which advocates for the secession of southern Yemen from the north, and was appointed deputy head of the council. He also remains a member of the Presidential Leadership Council.
