Lahj, Yemen: Three citizens were caught in flash floods in the "Ma'aden" valley in Lahj governorate (southern Yemen) on Saturday, August 10, 2024. While two were successfully rescued, the fate of the third remains unknown.

Local sources told "Barran Press" that the floods in the "Ma'aden" valley, located in the "Al-Bayda" area of "Tur Al-Baha" district, swept away citizen "Hilmi Al-Hakimi" this afternoon. His whereabouts are currently unknown, and it is unclear if he survived.

The sources confirmed that a rescue team led by the commander of the second battalion of the fourth brigade, Colonel "Mohammed Noman Al-Jaafari," and the chief of staff of the first battalion, Lieutenant Colonel "Musa Idris," managed to rescue two individuals who were with Al-Hakimi. However, the team was unable to reach him before he was swept away by the floodwaters.

"Barran Press" obtained a video showing the rescue attempts of the three citizens trapped in the Ma'aden valley in Lahj.

Yemen has been experiencing heavy rains and flash floods due to a low-pressure system. These weather events have resulted in the deaths and disappearances of dozens of citizens in several governorates, as well as the destruction of hundreds of homes and significant material damage to public and private property.
