Local sources reported on Sunday, August 11, 2024, that a crude oil pipeline in Shabwah Governorate, eastern Yemen, was targeted in an explosion by unidentified armed elements.

Sources told Barran Press that the gunmen detonated the pipeline in the "Bafkhusus" area of Radhum District, east of Shabwah Governorate, on Sunday evening.

The sources confirmed that the armed individuals fled the scene after the explosion, without being pursued by authorities, highlighting the unprecedented security lapse in the governorate.

Oil pipelines in Shabwah Governorate have been repeatedly targeted by explosions, with the most recent incident occurring earlier this year when a major pipeline connecting the "Jana Hunt" oil fields in Asilan to the Nishoma export terminal was sabotaged.
