The Yemeni Islah Party on Friday, August 16, 2024, condemned the "terrorist" bombing that targeted the 3rd Support and Reinforcement Brigade in Abyan Governorate (southern Yemen), killing 12 soldiers and injuring around 20 others.
In a statement published on X, seen by "Barran Press", Islah Party spokesperson Adnan Al-Adani said, "We strongly condemn the heinous terrorist crime that targeted the 3rd Support and Reinforcement Brigade in Abyan. We offer our condolences to the families of the martyrs and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded."
Al-Adani's statement urged state institutions to "fulfill their duties by working according to a comprehensive national strategy that encompasses all efforts and unites all capabilities to ensure a comprehensive confrontation of terrorist incidents."
Earlier Friday morning, over 30 soldiers from the Support and Reinforcement Brigade, affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council, were killed or injured in a car bomb explosion targeting a military barracks east of Mudiyah district in Abyan Governorate.
While no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, Abyan has witnessed similar attacks in the past, resulting in the deaths and injuries of dozens of soldiers. These crimes are often attributed to Al-Qaeda, which has issued statements claiming responsibility for most of them.
