Heavy rains have been lashing Harib district in Marib Governorate and Ain district in Shabwa Governorate (eastern Yemen) since 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2024, local sources reported. The downpour continues as of this report (7:00 PM).

Sources told Barran Press that the heavy rains have been concentrated in the city of Harib and the mountainous areas west and south of the district, leading to a significant surge in water levels in the Ablah valleys. In Ain, the rains have been focused on the areas of al-Suda and Shaqir, north of Ain, also causing significant flooding.

The heavy rains have resulted in power outages in both Harib and Ain.

Marib Governorate has been experiencing torrential floods since the beginning of August, forcing authorities to open the gates of Marib Dam for the first time due to the influx of water.
