Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh, former Yemeni ambassador to the UAE and Vice President of the General People's Congress (GPC) - Sana'a branch, held a virtual meeting on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, with Yevgeny Kudrov, the chargé d'affaires of the Russian Embassy in Yemen. The discussion focused on the current situation in Yemen and the state of the GPC.

"Yemen Today," a channel affiliated with the GPC, reported that the "fruitful" meeting covered the latest developments in Yemen and the current state of the Congress party.

During the meeting, the Russian diplomat emphasized the importance of continued efforts to find a peaceful political solution to the conflict in Yemen. He also congratulated Ahmed Ali on the recent lifting of international sanctions.

On July 30, 2024, the UN Security Council's Sanctions Committee removed the names of Ali Abdullah Saleh and his son, Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh, from the sanctions list for individuals and entities obstructing peace in Yemen.

The meeting highlights the ongoing dialogue and engagement between key players in the Yemeni conflict, as international actors continue to push for a peaceful resolution.
