IBB, YEMEN - A civilian was killed by a Houthi militant in the city of Ibb, Yemen, on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, according to local sources. The victim, identified as Shoqi Al-Jadra, was selling khat in the Al-Dhahir market when he was shot and killed by the Houthi gunman.
Sources told "Barran Press" that the Houthi militant opened fire on Al-Jadra, fatally wounding him with multiple shots from an automatic weapon. The attack also resulted in injuries among market patrons.
The assailant reportedly fled the scene after the murder, escaping capture or pursuit by the de facto authorities controlled by the Houthis, who have held the province by force since 2015.
The incident is just the latest in a string of similar attacks carried out by Houthi fighters against civilians in areas under their control. The group has been accused of complicity in these crimes, as they often go unpunished.
