The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning (NCMEW) reported on Thursday, August 29, 2024, that Al-Dhamar Governorate, south of Sana'a, recorded the highest rainfall levels in the past few hours. The center forecasts thunderstorms of varying intensity across most Yemeni governorates in the coming hours.

According to the NCMEW's daily bulletin, reviewed by Barran Press, rainfall recorded in the past 24 hours at various weather stations was as follows: Al-Dhamar (57.0 mm), Sana'a (38.4 mm), Al-Bayda (30.4 mm), Seiyun (19.6 mm), and Al-Mahwit (3.2 mm). Thunderstorms of varying intensity also occurred within and outside the range of weather stations, affecting parts of the interior highlands and western mountains.

The NCMEW predicts thunderstorms of varying intensity, accompanied by hail and downdrafts, in the governorates of Sa'ada, Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, Amran, Sana'a, Al-Dhamar, Rayma, Ibb, Taiz, Al-Dhalea, and Al-Bayda. These storms will extend westward to the Tihama Plain and the coastal areas of Hajjah, Hudaydah, and Taiz.

The center also anticipates moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms in parts of Mahrah, Hadhramaut, Shabwa, Abyan, Aden, Lahj, Al-Jawf, and Marib.

The NCMEW has issued warnings to citizens in areas expected to receive rainfall, advising them to avoid valleys, flood channels, and crossing earthen bridges.

The center also cautioned against thunderstorms, strong winds, hail, reduced visibility due to rain and fog formation, landslides on roads and mountain slopes, and the collapse of mud and traditional buildings due to persistent rainfall.

The NCMEW urged relevant official bodies to take necessary measures to protect lives and property and to monitor the center's bulletins and reports
