Six workers were killed in a fire that engulfed a commercial printing press in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

Local sources told Barran Press that the fire broke out in the morning at the Al-Nibras printing press in Mansoura district. Five bodies were recovered from the wreckage, while the sixth victim remains missing amidst the debris. The fire consumed all the printing equipment.

Sources attributed the blaze to the explosion of a lithium battery inside the printing press. They also highlighted the absence of safety systems and emergency exits, which exacerbated the tragedy.

The fire raged for hours, and firefighters were unable to extinguish it.

As of this report's publication at 4:23 PM, there has been no official statement from the printing press management or the Civil Defense regarding the incident.
