The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning predicted on Saturday, August 31, 2024, that heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms will affect 14 governorates over the next 24 hours. The center urged citizens to take precautions and avoid low-lying areas and riverbeds.

In its daily bulletin, reviewed by "Barran Press," the center forecast heavy rains with thunderstorms and strong downdrafts in the governorates of Aden, Lahj, and Abyan. The rains are also expected to cover the Tihama plain and the western coast of the governorates of Taiz, Hodeidah, and Hajjah.

The center indicated that there is a possibility of heavy rains, some of which could be torrential, accompanied by thunderstorms in the highlands of the governorates of Taiz, Dhale, Ibb, Dhamar, Raima, Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, Saada, Shabwa, and Hadhramaut.

The center also predicted scattered rains in parts of the governorates of Sana'a, Amran, Marib, Al-Jawf, Bayda, and Mahra.

The center warned against staying in low-lying areas and riverbeds, seeking shelter from thunderstorms and rockfalls, and the potential collapse of mud-brick and traditional buildings due to continued rainfall.

The center appealed to relevant government agencies to take necessary measures to protect lives and property and to follow its bulletins and reports.
