Taiz province (southwest Yemen) recorded the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours, while the National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has issued a warning of widespread dust storms in several Yemeni provinces in the coming hours.
According to the center's warning bulletin, monitored by "Barran Press", rainfall in the past 24 hours at some weather stations was as follows: (Taiz - Al-Ma'afar: 45.2 mm, Lahj - Tur Al-Baha: 24 mm, Hudaydah - Zabid: 19.2 mm, Aden: 2 mm, Ibb: 1.6 mm). Thunderstorms of varying intensity were reported outside the range of weather stations in parts of the mountainous highlands, the interior plateaus, the Tihama plain, and the western coast.
The center predicts varying levels of rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in the highlands of Taiz, Ibb, Lahj, Dhamar, Rima, Al-Mahwit, Hajjah, and Sa'ada provinces. The rainfall will also affect the Tihama plain and the coastal areas of Taiz, Hudaydah, Hajjah, Lahj, and Aden.
The center also expects scattered rainfall in the highlands of Sana'a, Amran, Al-Bayda, Marib, Al-Jawf, Hadhramaut, Mahra, Abyan, and Shabwah provinces. A widespread dust storm is anticipated in Al-Jawf, Amran, Hajjah, Sa'ada, Sana'a, and Dhamar provinces.
The center has issued warnings to avoid valleys, flood channels, and crossing earthen bridges. It also warns of thunderstorms, strong winds, hailstorms, reduced visibility due to rain and fog, and the collapse of mud-brick and traditional buildings due to continued rainfall.
The center has also advised citizens to wear masks to protect their health, especially the elderly and children, due to the widespread dust storms in the aforementioned provinces. It urged official authorities to take necessary measures to protect lives and property from the ongoing rainfall.
