A glimmer of hope emerged amidst tragedy in Dhamar governorate (central Yemen) on Monday, September 2, 2024, as two children were found alive after being swept away by flash floods late Friday night in Wasab al-Safil district.

Local sources told "Bran Press" that residents in Bani Musa'a district discovered the children, Maram Walid and her brother Jad Walid, clinging to each other and still alive. The floodwaters had carried them to distant locations.

The sources revealed that the children sustained fractures in their limbs, bruises, and head injuries, along with wounds across their bodies. After receiving initial first aid, they were transported to a hospital for treatment and medical care.

The flash floods that struck Wasab on Friday night had swept away the children's family home, tragically claiming the lives of five family members.

Wesab al-Safil district in Dhamar governorate experienced heavy rainfall on Friday, August 30, 2024, resulting in the deaths of approximately 33 people. The floods also washed away 23 houses, four vehicles, and several shops in the Al-Jurf and Al-Khasib areas of Bani Musa'a district.
