The Yemeni Ministry of Finance, recognized by the international community, announced on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024, the commencement of back pay disbursements to military and security personnel who were dismissed from their positions in southern governorates.

According to a statement released by the ministry and published by the official Yemeni News Agency (Saba), over 9 billion Yemeni riyals will be distributed through Al-Qatibi Microfinance Bank to more than 34,000 dismissed military and security personnel in these regions.

The ministry stated that this disbursement is part of official efforts to address the concerns of employees removed from their positions, in accordance with presidential decrees issued in mid-May 2023, starting with decree number (42) and ending with decree number (62).

The ministry further highlighted that these decrees addressed over 62,000 grievances from dismissed employees, in addition to Cabinet Resolution number (28) of 2023, which approved financial support for these dismissed personnel.

A ministry official, quoted in the statement, confirmed that the commencement of back pay disbursements for dismissed military and security personnel follows the completion of work by a technical committee comprising representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Civil Service, Insurance, Defense, and Interior, as well as the Central Audit and Accountability Body.

The official explained that the committee's tasks included reviewing beneficiary lists and verifying their eligibility for financial disbursements, driven by a commitment to alleviate their living hardships in light of the current challenging circumstances facing the country.
