On Monday, September 9, 2024, the commander of the Shabwah Governorate's Emergency Police Forces, Brigadier General Ali Al-Dahbouli, survived an assassination attempt by unidentified gunmen.

Local sources told "Barran Press" that the assailants fired a barrage of bullets at Al-Dahbouli's vehicle as he was passing through a security checkpoint on Darham Street in the center of Ataq, the governorate's capital.

The sources confirmed that Al-Dahbouli and his escorts escaped unharmed, although the gunfire caused damage to Al-Dahbouli's vehicle and the cars of nearby civilians. The gunmen fled the scene and have not been apprehended.
