Ibb, September 12, 2024 - Local sources reported on Thursday that the Houthi group, internationally designated as a terrorist organization, has abducted 11 activists in the Saddah district of Ibb Governorate (central Yemen) on charges of organizing and preparing for national celebrations marking the anniversary of the Yemeni Revolution on September 26th.

Sources told "Barran Press" that after abducting the 11 activists in the Sadah district, the group also abducted others in Ibb city, the governorate's capital.

The sources indicated that the Houthi group summoned some activists to police stations in the city to sign pledges not to participate in any celebrations for the national occasion.

They explained that those summoned by the Houthis were threatened with imprisonment if they participated in the September 26th celebrations, which Yemenis will commemorate in a few days.

Confirming the matter, according to the sources, the Houthi group issued orders prohibiting the holding of any celebratory events for the national holiday in schools across the governorate.

For days, Ibb Governorate has witnessed a wave of abductions targeting activists and politicians, the latest being four young men from the "Mesqaia" village in the Saddah district, on the pretext of preparing for the revolution's event, which residents have traditionally held annually in the birthplace of oHne of the prominent leaders of the September Revolution, "Martyr Ali Abdul-Mughni."
