Two children were injured on Thursday, September 12, 2024, when a mortar shell fired by the Houthi group, designated as a terrorist organization by the international community, struck the village of Hadiya in the countryside of Maqbana district, west of Taiz governorate.

The official Yemeni news agency Saba, citing local sources, reported that the Houthi group targeted the village of Hadiya with mortar shells, injuring 10-year-old Mohammed Hussein Mohammed Bajash and 7-year-old Abrar Mohammed bin Mohammed Bajash.

The sources added that the Houthi shelling caused fear and panic among the residents, especially children and women.

The injured children were transported to the Al-Khokha field hospital for treatment.

Local human rights sources have repeatedly reported shelling and sniper attacks by the Houthi group on residential neighborhoods and populated villages in Taiz governorate, resulting in civilian casualties and material damage.

The Houthi group has imposed a tight siege on the city of Taiz since 2015, exacerbating the humanitarian suffering of its residents, estimated at 5 million people.
