The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms (YNRF) has condemned the arbitrary arrests and assaults perpetrated by the Houthi group against citizens celebrating the 62nd anniversary of the 26 September Revolution in areas under their control.

In a statement released and monitored by "Barran Press" on Friday, September 14, 2024, the YNRF, a non-governmental organization, denounced what it described as "flagrant violations" committed by the Houthis, who are internationally designated as a terrorist organization.

The statement highlighted that celebrations in Sana'a and other governorates were met with excessive force, preventing citizens from expressing their joy and pride in the revolution, creating an atmosphere of fear and repression.

The YNRF called upon the international community, governments, and human rights organizations to take decisive action to stop these crimes and support Yemeni civil society. The statement emphasized that these violations contribute to the erosion of trust within Yemeni society and urged independent investigations and accountability for those involved.

The YNRF also stressed the importance of the media's role in documenting and reporting these violations, ensuring that Yemenis have the right to express their national identity and celebrate their national holidays without fear or intimidation.
