Yemeni Prime Minister Discusses Humanitarian and Economic Challenges with UN

Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak held a phone call on Thursday, September 19, 2024, with Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohammed, to discuss collaborative mechanisms for addressing the humanitarian and economic challenges facing the country.

According to the official Yemeni news agency Saba, Prime Minister bin Mubarak stressed the need for maximum pressure on the Houthi group, designated as a terrorist organization by several countries, to release humanitarian workers detained by the group for over 1,100 days. He added that the government will continue to pursue this issue and take all possible measures to secure the release of the detainees.

The Prime Minister also discussed ways to enhance stability in liberated areas and the importance of supporting economic development efforts and projects aimed at improving living conditions.

Both parties emphasized the need to direct more efforts towards development solutions to promote long-term stability.

Mohammed reiterated the UN's commitment to remaining a key partner in efforts to achieve peace and sustainable development in Yemen.
