On September 21, 2024, tribal sources reported the successful formation of a five-member committee from the Al-Jaadna tribe to meet with Council Member and Commander of the Giants Forces, Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, regarding the kidnapping of Sheikh Ali Ashal Al-Jaadni.
According to sources speaking to "Barran Press," the local mediation, led by Abyan Security Director Brigadier General Ali Nasser Al-Kazmi, facilitated this committee's establishment to address the fate of Sheikh Al-Jaadni, who has been missing since June.
The committee was formed after Al-Kazmi persuaded the Al-Jaadna tribe to reopen the coastal road connecting Aden and Hadramout and to lift their tribal checkpoints set up in the Bani Kazim area of "Ahwar" and "Khabar Al-Maraqsha."
However, the Al-Jaadna tribe has continued to block the international road linking Aden and Shabwa for the seventh consecutive day, with checkpoints established in the "Ahmar" area east of "Mudiya" and in "Al-Saidi" and "Al-Ain" regions within the lands of Al-Diyan.
The sources noted that the Al-Jaadna tribe allowed the passage of 25 fuel tankers belonging to Aden Electricity last week as a result of tribal mediation led by local dignitaries from Abyan.
Currently, the Al-Jaadna tribe is holding 188 tankers in the "Ahwar" area and 155 in the "Ahmar" region, crucial points that lead to Aden and connect it to eastern provinces.
On September 15, the Al-Jaadna tribe escalated tensions by blocking the main road between Aden and Hadramout with tribal checkpoints in "Ahmar" and "Ahwar," restricting truck movements. This blockade serves as a pressure tactic on the government and the Southern Transitional Council to reveal the whereabouts of Ali Ashal Al-Jaadni.
Sheikh Al-Jaadni was kidnapped in Aden in early June, with local police accusing the Southern Transitional Council's Counter-Terrorism Forces of involvement. Reports indicate that the unit's commander and his deputy left the country shortly after the incident.
On September 9, tribal groups in Abyan organized a protest in Zinjibar, the provincial capital, dubbed the "Million Man March for Ashal," demanding urgent disclosure of Al-Jaadni’s fate and his release, holding the Southern Transitional Council leadership fully responsible for his safety.
