Starting today, Barran Press will release a series of motion graphic videos highlighting the key figures of the September 26, 1962 Revolution, coinciding with the Yemeni celebrations of the 62nd anniversary of the uprising that ended the rule of the imams in northern Yemen.
On Thursday, Yemenis will commemorate the 62nd anniversary of the establishment of the republic and the fall of the imamate system, which took place on September 26, 1962. As September began, many Yemenis quickly adorned their social media profiles with slogans and songs celebrating the revolution.
Since the Houthi group's takeover—designated as a terrorist organization and seen as a continuation of the imamate system—they have worked to erase the significance of the September 26 Revolution from educational curricula and media, replacing it with commemorations of their seizure of the capital, Sana'a, on September 21, 2014.
