On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, the internationally recognized Yemeni Prime Minister, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, reaffirmed the government’s support for governors in areas under Houthi control, emphasizing the importance of enhancing communication with citizens and supporting their aspirations for freedom and the restoration of state institutions.

This statement came during a meeting with Al-Mahwit Governor Saleh Sumie, where they discussed the current situation and challenges faced by residents in the province amid the ongoing Houthi regime, which is classified internationally as a terrorist organization. The Prime Minister condemned the group's oppressive tactics and ongoing human rights violations, including killings, looting, and abductions.

According to the official Yemen News Agency Saba, Bin Mubarak stressed the need to intensify efforts to alleviate the suffering of Yemeni citizens within the limits of available resources.

In response, Governor Sumie outlined the brutal violations faced by Al-Mahwit residents at the hands of the Houthis, highlighting their legendary resilience and determination to restore state authority and end the insurgency. He also addressed the damages caused by recent floods in the province, particularly in the Al-Malhan district, and reported on the looting of humanitarian aid intended for affected families.
