Hadramout, September 28, 2024 — Hassan Al-Jailani, the Deputy Governor of Hadramout, stated on Saturday that the September 26 Revolution served as an inspiration for liberation movements in southern Yemen, which had been under British occupation shortly after the revolution's success in the north.

In remarks made to the official Saba News Agency, Al-Jailani commemorated the 62nd anniversary of the revolution, asserting that it brought about numerous achievements across various sectors and initiated profound changes in Yemeni society.

He highlighted the role of the September Revolution in freeing minds from the constraints of narrow imamate ideology, promoting education, journalism, arts, and the establishment of sports clubs, which contributed to comprehensive development in economic, health, and infrastructure areas.

Al-Jailani emphasized that the revolution marked a turning point in the consciousness of the Yemeni people, breaking the shackles of intellectual and political stagnation imposed by the imamate and opening Yemen to the world and the ideas of Arab and global renaissance.

Over the decades, he noted, numerous national movements and social figures emerged, playing significant roles in resisting the imamate system. He warned that any attempt to revive the imamate model through the Houthis would face strong opposition from these movements and individuals.

Al-Jailani stressed the importance of national unity against the Houthi group, which is internationally classified as a terrorist organization, asserting that they aim to revert the country to previous eras and undermine the gains of the September Revolution. He called for support of the army, popular resistance, and the legitimacy of the state and its institutions.

Yemenis are celebrating the 62nd anniversary of the September 26 Revolution, which ended the rule of the imamate monarchy and established the republic, a regime known for its oppression that left Yemen in isolation, backwardness, and ignorance.
