On October 1, 2024, Engineer Saleh Al-Saqaf, the Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Office in Marib, issued a warning to citizens and internally displaced persons about misleading information and malicious links being circulated on social media under the guise of international organizations and agencies.

In statements to "Barran Press," Al-Saqaf noted that suspicious links have recently appeared in WhatsApp groups and other social media platforms, falsely attributed to international or local organizations.

He explained that these links prompt individuals to input personal information under the pretense of being added to lists for food and cash assistance. This misleading information and dubious links aim to collect personal data for extortion or multi-purpose targeting. Some of these links also contain malicious viruses designed to monitor individuals, violate their privacy, and extract their data.

Al-Saqaf urged all citizens to refrain from engaging with these links and to avoid sharing any personal information with unofficial entities that lack authorization from relevant official bodies.

He also called on citizens and beneficiaries of humanitarian and relief assistance to obtain information from reliable sources, such as the offices of these organizations or the Planning and Executive Unit, and to verify links before opening or interacting with them.
