On October 1, 2024, the National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning issued a warning about imminent thunderstorms and strong winds affecting large parts of Yemen in the coming hours. This alert is based on satellite imagery, numerical model outputs, and atmospheric observations.

In its daily bulletin, reviewed by "Barran Press," the center predicted heavy rainfall, with some storms accompanied by hail and strong winds, over the next 48 hours in the highlands, slopes, and western coastal plains from Saada in the north to Taiz, Al-Dhale, and Lahij in southern Yemen.

The forecast also includes varying intensities of rain, some of which will be thunderous and accompanied by severe winds, affecting areas in the highlands and coasts of Al-Mahra, Hadramout, Shabwa, Abyan, and the city of Aden.

Additionally, the center anticipates strong winds stirring sand and dust over the Socotra archipelago and regions under the influence of thunderstorm clouds.

In light of these conditions, the meteorological center advised citizens and vehicle operators to avoid low valleys and riverbeds, as well as slippery dirt roads in areas expecting rainfall.

They also cautioned against approaching power lines, billboards, and trees during thunderstorms and strong winds, emphasizing the need for citizens to turn off mobile phones during lightning storms to ensure safety.
