Sources revealed on Wednesday that the Houthi movement, classified as a terrorist organization, has taken control of Kamran Industry and Investment Company, Yemen's largest cigarette manufacturer.

According to reports, the group dismissed the company's general manager, Abdul Hafiz Al-Semah, and appointed Houthi leader Mohammed Al-Dawlah in his place, along with other leadership appointments, all made without any legal justification, as stated by Asharq Al-Awsat.

Previously, a statement from the company’s board accused the Houthis of “forging general assembly meetings and appointment decisions, and moving to plunder its assets and funds.”

The board emphasized that the Houthis organized an illegal meeting of the company’s general assembly, where they forged resolutions and appointed their members to leadership positions, aiming to control the company’s vast assets and resources.

The board warned the internationally recognized Yemeni government that this so-called “illegal” takeover threatens the national economy and places the company under the risk of international sanctions.
