The Meteorological Center announced significant updates regarding the tropical situation in the Arabian Sea, indicating that the low-pressure area is moving westward and northward from its previously identified position.
According to the government-run Meteorological Center, recent satellite images show scattered low to mid-level clouds accompanied by intense thermal activity over the region spanning latitude 12.00° N to 21.00° N and longitude 61.00° E. The cloud temperatures are estimated to range from -70 to -93 degrees Celsius.
The center reported that maximum sustained winds associated with this system have reached approximately 20 knots (40 km/h), with the atmospheric pressure at the center of the tropical depression estimated at 1003 hPa, located at coordinates 15.2° N, 66.66° E.
In a related warning, the National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning cautioned in its daily bulletin about the formation of a tropical depression east and southeast of the Arabian Sea. This system is expected to have a direct impact on the coasts of Al-Mahra Governorate and the Socotra Archipelago.
The forecast further suggests the development of convective clouds associated with thunderstorms and rainfall over eastern regional waters. The Socotra Archipelago and the eastern coast and areas east of the Gulf of Aden are likely to experience cloudy weather.
Additionally, there is a possibility of strong winds in the eastern regional waters, reaching up to 60 knots. Fishermen and mariners in these waters must remain cautious due to potential sea disturbances and rising waves. Residents in the Socotra Archipelago are warned to avoid valleys and flood-prone areas during and after rainfall.
