The United Nations Human Rights Council unanimously adopted a resolution on Tuesday, presented by the United Arab Emirates on behalf of the Arab Group, focusing on "providing technical assistance and capacity-building for Yemen in the field of human rights."

In a statement published on its official website, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that the resolution was introduced by the UAE's permanent representative to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva, Jamal Al Musharakh.

Al Musharakh emphasized that the resolution regarding Yemen embodies one of the primary objectives for establishing the Human Rights Council: to engage with the concerned state and empower its national institutions to enhance and protect human rights through constructive dialogue and cooperation.

He noted that the resolution directed at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights calls for the necessary support to the Yemeni government to fulfill its human rights commitments and address the developmental and humanitarian needs of the Yemeni people.

The adopted resolution aims to strengthen the capacities of the National Commission for Inquiry into allegations of human rights violations and international humanitarian law, enabling it to continue its activities to ensure accountability, achieve justice, and provide reparations.

Furthermore, the resolution reaffirms strong support for international efforts to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire, end the conflict in Yemen, and pursue meaningful political dialogue for peace. It also calls for the removal of obstacles hindering the delivery of humanitarian aid.

The resolution encourages all UN system bodies, including the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and all countries to support Yemen's transitional process with necessary resources to address the consequences of violence and the economic and social challenges it faces, in coordination with international donors and line with the priorities set by Yemeni authorities.

Al Musharakh reiterated the UAE's commitment to supporting all regional and international efforts to find a political solution in Yemen that meets the aspirations of its people for security, development, and stability, standing alongside the Yemeni people in their legitimate ambitions for growth and prosperity.
