On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, Yemeni Transport Minister Abdul Salam Hamid met in Aden, the country’s temporary capital, to discuss cooperation between Yemen and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, focusing on the resumption of flights by Royal Jordanian Airlines to Yemen.

During his meeting with the technical team from Royal Jordanian Airlines, Hamid highlighted the current state of stability and security in Aden, emphasizing the readiness of Aden International Airport and other airports in liberated provinces to accommodate all international flights from both technical and security perspectives.

Hamid reviewed the efforts made by the Ministry of Transport and the General Authority for Civil Aviation to normalize conditions, operate airports, and ensure compliance with internationally recognized standards, as well as the resumption of domestic flights.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by Yemenia Airlines following the Houthi conflict and the airline's efforts to meet the increasing demand for both domestic and international flights.

The Minister welcomed all airlines and aviation agents from friendly nations to cater to community needs and to expand coordination for air travel. He confirmed that preparations are ongoing to enhance the takeoff and landing runways at Aden Airport, supported by the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen. Recently, the foundation stone for an aircraft maintenance and engineering center was laid.

In response, the technical team from Royal Jordanian Airlines expressed their readiness to offer expertise and services to the airports in liberated areas and to work swiftly to resume their flights to Yemen.
