SANA'A, YEMEN — Local sources reported on Friday, October 25, 2024, that a buried body was discovered in the village of Sarif, east of the capital Sanaa, just hours after another body was found, causing widespread fear and alarm among residents due to the ongoing series of violent crimes.
According to Barran Press's sources who requested anonymity for safety reasons, citizens unearthed the body in the afternoon, which was buried in a location designated for guarding qat, in the Bani Hushaish district.
The recently discovered body has been identified as that of "Abu Hashim," a member of the Iran-aligned Houthi group, which is internationally classified as a terrorist organization. The search is currently underway for additional bodies.
Following the discovery of the first buried body in the same village, authorities apprehended a suspect named "Ali Abdu Al-Sarfi," who was the last person to communicate with the victim late at night before his disappearance the previous week.
Residents have accused Al-Sarfi and members of a gang he allegedly leads of being involved in the murder of "Younis Al-Sarfi," whose body was found on Thursday, as well as the ongoing disappearance of four other individuals, with searches still being conducted for their remains. The motives behind these crimes remain unclear.
On Thursday, reports surfaced that the body of 30-year-old Younis Ali Hazam Al-Sarfi was discovered near a vineyard in Sarif after being missing for a week. His motorcycle, found near the vineyard, led locals to initiate a search, eventually revealing the location of the body, which had begun to decompose.
Examinations of Younis's body indicated he was killed with a sharp instrument, identified as a sickle, which was found next to the grave.
Additionally, on Tuesday, sources reported the suicide of 32-year-old Sobhi Hamoud Al-Sarfi, who was found dead in his room at home in Sarif.
