On Saturday, October 26, 2024, Alawi Al-Basha Bin Zaba’a, a member of Yemen's Shura Council, was re-elected as Vice President of the Legislative, Legal, and Human Rights Committee in the Arab Parliament. He will also continue to chair the subcommittee on human rights during the current electoral term.
The election took place during the procedural session held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, as reported by the Arab Parliament on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, which was shared with Bran Press.
During the session, Mohammed Al-Amin was elected as the new chairperson of the Legislative, Legal, and Human Rights Committee.
In a statement on X, Al-Basha Bin Zaba’a expressed his gratitude to the President and members of the Arab Parliament for their support of the Yemeni parliamentary delegation, thanking them for their unanimous trust in re-electing him as Vice President of the committee for the upcoming term.
Bin Zaba’a was first elected to this position on January 20, 2023, and his re-election reflects ongoing support for his role in the Arab parliamentary framework.
The Arab Parliament consists of four permanent committees: the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Political Affairs, and National Security; the Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs; the Committee on Legislative, Legal, and Human Rights; and the Committee on Social, Educational, Cultural, Women, and Youth Affairs.
